What’s most disturbing about this silent declaration of war on American is that the Chinese don’t use warships and warplanes to deliver their deadly payloads. They’re using a sophisticated delivery system for their weapons of mass destruction called “FedEx, UPS, Amazon and the United States Postal Service.” That’s so ingenious it takes my breath away.
China is at war with the West, in general, and the United States, in particular. It has been aggressively stealing technology from other countries for decades. It’s built a cyber army that, according to the Department of Defense, is targeting our aviation and anti-submarine warfare technologies, among other things. Through the use of technology (much of it stolen), China has gained nearly complete control over its population, redefining “Big Brother state.” China has built a system of “vocational education and training centers” that are nothing more than internment camps for dissidents, mainly Uyghur Muslims now, but could easily accommodate anyone that gets in their way. These camps are operated outside China’s captive legal system. And China has made no bones about the fact they intend to be a military superpower by 2049. But first they have to neutralize the world’s current superpower. Continue reading “The Opium Wars”
While PM Trudeau’s words had me wide-eyed and a little horrified, my accurate transcription fails to capture the accompanying awkward hand gestures that inspired a few hand gestures of my own, one in particular.

Just avoid talk of religion, politics or money with our friends and family at our Fourth of July gathering, and all will be well? Not anymore. It seems there is little we can talk about with each other that won’t result in at least a war of words, and at most, a brawl.

It’s probably too late for France. The intent of those who built the Notre-Dame Cathedral and their passion for the Holy Trinity went up in flames.

RIP Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris
Last month, Christians sat transfixed in front of their television or computer screens watching the orange glow of flames devastate Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, an 800-year-old icon for believers around the world. The day before the fire, the cathedral WAS considered one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in France. With billions of dollars already pledged from the faithful around the world, the French government, which controls the medieval structure, vows to rebuild the cathedral in five…six years at the most. No bodies, no weapons, no witnesses and no forensic evidence of the children’s demise was ever found. I rest my case. Now maybe the decades of libel and slander against the hardworking flautist for crimes he did not commit can finally be put to rest.

About the Charleston Mercury
The Charleston Mercury was founded by Henry L. Pinckney in 1819. He was its sole editor for 15 years. I ceased publication with the Union Army occupation of Charleston. After the Civil War, publication resumed in November 1866 before the newspaper closed permanently two years later in 1868.
The paper’s name was dormant until March 2000 when Charles W. Waring III and a group of investors started the “Charleston Mercury” online. The paper covered the inauguration of George W. Bush on a daily basis in Jan. 2001. In October 2002, Waring took the paper to print. From that point until March 2013, the paper published every two weeks; from March 2013 until the present, the paper has published a monthly edition under the ownership of Holy City Productions, LLC, an independent media firm owned by Waring and a group of investors. The “Charleston Mercury” newspaper reaches roughly 50,000 affluent readers in the greater Charleston area.
The long version of the story of John Frum and cargo cults requires an in-depth foray into history, anthropology and human psychology. But anyone dismissing the indigenous people of Tanna’s cultism as situational ignorance should take a good look around.
What is a cargo cult?
In January 2019, Patra Taylor decided to jump into the world of ob ed writers…quite the transformation from the family humor she specialized in for a decade and a half. When she bumped into John Frum deep into the internet byways, she knew immediately she had to re-introduce him to the world. So, Who is John Frum? Continue reading “Who is John Frum?”

Who Writes Op Eds About Chickens?
Op ed columnists have long intrigued writer Patra Taylor. In January 2019, she decided to jump into the churning waters of opinion writing, feet first…quite a transformation from the humor she specialized in for a decade and a half. As fate would have it, The Chicken and the Egg Plant virtually wrote itself when she discovered that the chickens AND the eggs, the subjects of the article, were located in Marion, Ohio, a mere hop, skip and a jump from her hometown of Lima, Ohio. And these chickens and eggs were the predicates for human trafficking! Continue reading “The chicken and the egg plant”
